Fifth grade is a big deal at Laurel! It’s a milestone our students have been working towards since Kindergarten and their final year is filled with special traditions, celebrations, and memories. The Fifth Grade Committee is a team of family volunteers who partner with Laurel staff to make this year extra special for every 5th grader.

💰 Fundraising

IMG_3110

All of our activities depend on fundraising! All funds raised through 5th grade fundraising directly covers everything mentioned on this page. Help organize fundraising opportunities such as:

  • Food sales at school events
  • Direct donation requests
  • See’s Candy holiday sales and other passive fundraisers
  • Promotion of corporate donation matching

📖 Memory BOOKS

IMG_3729Every fifth grader receives a memory book of their time at Laurel Elementary. This book supplements the school annual yearbook and provides a look back at their years as a Laurel student. Working on memory books mean you will help:

  • Collect and organize photos from over the years, including baby photos
  • Design and layout memory book pages
  • Work with the publisher to produce order books
  • Create slideshow for pancake breakfast

👕 Fifth Grade T-Shirts

IMG_5754Help create the custom 5th grade T-shirt that students proudly wear for field trips and end-of-year events, including Laurel's annual tradition, Field Day! This sub-committee will:

  • Create the design for the T-shirt
  • Coordinate with teachers to collect T-shirt sizes
  • Order T-shirts and distribute to students

🏊 Pool Party

Our fifth graders celebrate the end of their time at Laurel with an all-day pool party! The day includes a breakfast, walk/transportation to the venue, lunch and swimming, and trip back to school. Things to make this happen include:

  • Reserving the pool facility and coordinating with venue
  • Purchasing and ordering food and refreshments
  • Organizing and coordinating with chaperones
  • Gathering permission slips

🥞 Pancake Breakfast

Laurel fifth graders get a special pancake breakfast during the last week of school where students can enjoy a breakfast, watch a slideshow looking back at their years at Laurel, and receive and sign yearbooks. Organizers will need to:

  • Prepare breakfast items and purchase food/drinks
  • Setup MPR with tables for food service and dining
  • Gather volunteers for serving breakfast

🎓 Promotion Ceremony

IMG_6632Make the last event of our fifth graders' Laurel career memorable for the students and their families! The promotion ceremony marks the end of your students time with Laurel and celebrates their promotion to middle school. After the promotion ceremony, families enjoy a reception for photos and refreshments. Help will be needed for:

  • Coordinating with principal on logistics
  • Decorating the promotion stage and reception
  • Purchasing snacks and refreshments for reception
  • Setup and cleanup for both events, including coordination with 4th grade family volunteers
  • Printing programs

📋 5th grade committee lead

We need someone to lead the way! Serve as the primary coordinator overseeing all committee teams and projects throughout the year. Leading the committee means:

  • Arrange and lead committee meetings throughout the year
  • Check-in on committees and make sure projects are on-schedule
