Fifth grade is a big deal at Laurel! It’s a milestone our students have been working towards since Kindergarten and their final year is filled with special traditions, celebrations, and memories.
🏆 The Fifth Grade Committee is a team of parent volunteers who partner with Laurel staff to make this year extra special for every 5th grader.

There are several ways to get involved, and we need lots of parent help to make it all happen!

Don’t worry you won’t have to start from scratch. We have resources and information from past years to help you get started.

🏊 Pool Party
Help plan our June pool party, including:
- Reserving the pool
- Food and refreshments
- Games and activities
- Event-day coordination
🥞 Pancake Breakfast
A special breakfast during the last week of school where students can:
- Enjoy breakfast with their classmates
- Sign yearbooks
- Celebrate and say goodbye to Laurel
🎓 Promotion Ceremony
Help create a memorable end-of-year celebration by:
- Planning with the Principal
- Creating invitations and decorations
- Coordinating refreshments
- Helping with event logistics
📖 Yearbook
Every 5th grader receives a yearbook filled with memories from their years at Laurel. Volunteers help:
- Collect and organize photos
- Gather student information
- Create page layouts
- Coordinate student and teacher content
- Work with the publisher to produce the finished book
👕 Fifth Grade T-Shirts
Help create the custom 5th grade T-shirt that students proudly wear during the weeks leading up to the end of the year and on Field Day, one of Laurel’s favorite traditions.
💰 Fundraising
Our celebrations depend on fundraising! Volunteers help organize opportunities such as:
- Food sales at school events
- See’s Candy holiday sales
- Other fundraising activities throughout the year
