Typically each graduating 5th grade student would receive a yearbook, a pool party, a pancake breakfast, and a promotion ceremony with reception, provided by funds raised by the 5th Grade Graduation Committee through bake sales at Laurel events and various fundraiser.
This is a very different year due to COVID-19.
Our class of 2021 will receive a yearbook and signage in front of the school for graduation pictures. Any remaining funds will be used to decorate the stage and surrounds for the graduation ceremony.

Also due to COVID-19, Samaritan House is unable to distribute toys as they have done in the past. Instead, they will spread cheer this year at a safe drive-through gift card distribution in early December. Gift cards from Target will allow families to personalize shopping for each child in their household online, via curbside pickup or in-store.

Students exercised their curiosity, approached real world problems in a systematic and scientific way, and applied creativity towards questions that interested them. The nominating committee helps to find candidates for the 2019-2020 PTA board. As a member of the nominating committe, you help recruit people to the board that you think would be a good representation of parents you know! This is not a long term commitment, meeting only a few times in January and February!
Please consider being on the nominating committee! This is a great volunteer role to fill if you would like to participate but don't have much time to do so. ABOUT PROJECT WEE CARE
|
The Project Wee Care program developed as a link between the San Mateo-Foster City School District and Samaritan House, a non-profit agency providing services to residents of San Mateo County such as food,shelter, clothing, education and medical. Through this program, teachers, parents, and students join forces to help low-income families through donations of food, clothing, linens, holiday toys and other items. By participating in gathering donations,children gain an understanding that there are people in need within our community, they learn how to help these people in need, and learn that volunteering can make a difference in the lives of others. All SMFCSD schools participate in the Wee Care Program.
