Volunteerism
There are multiple opportunities for you to help Laurel Elementary!
Project Wee Care
The Project Wee Care program developed as a link between the San Mateo-Foster City School District and Samaritan House, a non-profit agency providing services to residents of San Mateo County such as food, shelter, clothing, education and medical. Through this program, teachers, parents, and students join forces to help low-income families through donations of food, clothing, linens, holiday toys and other items. By participating in gathering donations, children gain an understanding that there are people in need within our community, they learn how to help these people in need, and learn that volunteering can make a difference in the lives of others. We have 2-3 collections during the school year.
Wee Care Coordinator works with our connection at Samartan House to set up dates for collections, approve dates with office staff and Principal, oversee collection including arranging items and moving them to the MPR before pickup, sending info the Communications regard the collections, and bringing the collection cans out daily and back in daily during the collection.
